Under the stairs is a tricky area that lends it’s self to custom furniture. Henry works with staircase space is to create form and function where none exists. Darcie wanted to transform her under the stairs area into a useful office and craft area. Darcie collaborated with Henry to design this solid Beech desk with Sapele accents to tie in with the couples other custom desk made of solid Sapele.
Designed to maximize under the staircase storage Henry build a closet with a folding piano hinge and desk facing book shelfs. Sapele shelfs and Sapele drawer pulls create a red wood accent that will be incorporated into the couples soon to be designed custom AV unit in addition to the upstairs custom Sapele desk.
Darcie was inspirated by the Floating L coffee table designed and built by Henry. She wanted her desk to levitate out of the wall so her desk wouldn’t feel closed off to the living room.
Another under the stairs storage solution designed and built by Henry is this birds eye maple and walnut wine rack and backing storage.
