Thred Up contracted Henry to build a custom Live Edge Reception Desk for their new San Francisco office. Henry and ThredUP owner Oliver went to the wood yard to select raw live edge planks for the desk and this exceptional slab of Walnut caught their eye. The naturally beautiful walnut wood inspired a pair of benches to match the reception desk.
The desk and benches set complete Thred Up’s reception area, representing the brand with class and a thoughtful eye for natural beauty. Even on their own these benches are a stand out!
The Work
Henry carefully cleans the edges keeping the live edge but chiseling way the bark. For the better part of a week Henry will plane, sand, rest, re-sand (again and again) and fainlly hand finish each slab with Dutch Oil – matching the Live Edge Reception Desk and provide a lasting finish while best showing off the natural beauty of the wood.
