Modern home in Palo Alto California features an airy floating staircase but lacked storage in the kitchen for a sizable wine collection. The client wanted wine storage that would work with the existing staircase while feeling like a stand-a-lone piece of furniture. Working with the customer and interior designer Henry created a custom wine rack that both maximizes storage while adding warmth to this modern space.

When selecting wood for this project Henry tied in the light wood features already in the house with a birds eye maple face. The darker walnut surround adds contrast and coordinates with new furniture selected by the interior designer.
The client is a classic car fanatic, so Henry drew inspiration from classic car interiors when adding in a small tasting tray to for easy poring. The flip-down drawer has a walnut soft-close pull out tray with hidden magnetic wine opener storage tucked underneath.
The back of the stairs is tricky space to get to, making it ideal of additional storage tucked away in sleek touch-to-open doors.
Design Inspiration: Classic Cars (Jaguar to be specific) warm wood tones, clean modern lines and functional form for a unique space.
